1. Hi everyone! My name is Yash Jagtap. I work as a Developer Relations Engineer at DataverseOS. Today, I'm here to help you get start with building apps on DataverseOS. First, i’ll tell you a bit about what DataverseOS is and then we’ll go through some key concepts of DataverseOS to help you understand the system. Then, will do a brief bounty description to talk about what's the idea that we want you guys to do during this hackathon. In the end, I want to walk you through a simple demo and some actual coding to show you how to start developing on DataverseOS.

  2. So what does it mean when I say that DataverseOS is the personal computer owned by your wallet. It is an Internet Data Operating System that manages online data for users and eases development of sovereign data dApps.

In order to reshape the internet of today and create a Web3 data paradigm, DataverseOS was built on top of decentralised web stacks. Web3 data refers to data that is computed by dApps, saved in personal clouds, sovereigned by users, and protected by wallets.

We have often emphasised the importance of giving users true data ownership back. In our opinion, it is not sufficient to only acknowledge this ownership; we also believe that consumers should be able to profit from their personal data. As a result, we create DataverseOS as a universal doorway to web3, which not only stores data but also encourages its creation, unlocks its full potential, and fuels the data economy.

DataverseOS is composed of 3 high-level components, which are:

  1. First I will give brief introduction to the data wallet. Data wallet is a chrome browser, extension and is a gateway to web3 dapps to safely holding users identities and resources.

Dataverse Wallet is a web3 crypto wallet that manages both your finances and personal data. It is a fully-featured cryptocurrency wallet with additional functionality. Beyond sending transactions, NFTs, interacting with DeFi, etc. you can also create, visualize, and manage your DATA in a decentralized manner. The wallet acts as a gateway to decentralized data applications (dApps). It prevents malicious applications from stealing your personal data without your consent. The wallet is designed to protect user signatures and resources authenticated via Sign-in with Ethereum (SIWE).

Before development in this hackathon, I recommend you to update this extension to the latest version.

  2. Dataverse Cloud is a personal cloud drive where you truly own your data. Traditional cloud storage is centralised, with user data stored and calculated on someone else's servers. Dataverse Cloud is built upon decentralized data networks, where the user has the highest sovereignty over the data in the cloud drive.

Dataverse Cloud is decentralized, user-centric storage fully owned by your identity. A cloud drive to store, visualize and monetize all data assets.

Dataverse Cloud provides programmable file sharing and access control. Users can customize file accesses, such as setting whitelists or issuing NFT access tokens. Meanwhile, developers can freely program access conditions and rules. At the same time, the native data monetization mechanism allows users to sell access to their data in the form of individual files (Data Token) or collections of files (Data Union). Developers can also build data economies

A decentralized file system that is encrypted and only accessible by users themselves. We believe that the user should be in control of their data and not the other way around. All data generated during user interactions with os-powered dApps will be stored in this file system. It's a file system to visualize and manage all your data over different applications.Everything is a file. Your creations, interests, contribution, social interactions, and more. All of these will automatically be saved in this file system. With this private data space, we want to help everyone gain back control of the internet.

  3. i want to talk about why we’ve built this operating system and what makes it different from the traditional operating systems. But before we dive into the details. I would like to take a quick trip through the history of data. to have some context here.

so just to clarify, when i talk about 'data' in this context, i’m referring to all the info that can be digitized and stored electronically.

So at first, we got personal computers. we interact with softwares on our PC and the data generated was stored in our hard disks. so at this stage, we actually had the control of our own data, but the thing is, it's not really easy for other people to access it. It's like we're all living in our own little data cubes, and there’s no measure for sharing and making the data flow.

Then came the internet, which totally changed the game. Suddenly data could flow freely between different devices, and we could access all sorts of cool stuff online. However, this is also the begining when we started losing control over our data. because of the centralization of today’s internet. all the computing and storage happens in a centralized way. So in this stage we've given up our data sovereignty in exchange for all the convenience of the internet.

So now we look at web3. web3 is the internet where data is computed and stored in a decentralized way. That's why we came up with dataverseOS - it's the next generation personal computers. decentralized, on the cloud, and self-controlled. Basically, we design this system by replacing the traditional pc hardwares like CPU, memory and hard disk with decentralized infras such as blockchains, decentralized storage and databases and so on. these infras can help us give the complete control over data back to users. the next generation personal computer is gpint to take the best of both the convenience of the cloud and the security and privacy of a local pc.

  4. in summary, dataverseos will controland manage protocols like Ceramic and Lit, make it easier for developers to create all sorts of cool applications on top of these protocols.
